The disconnect between marketing and science is not a new challenge in nutrition and health. It can seem confusing to figure out what is fact and what is fiction. This is especially true in the sports and athletic world; the supplement industry and non-RDs have made sure of that.

 

What every health and nutrition practitioner will agree on is this: a plant predominate diet is the key to good health and performance. I am not talking about eating grass in a field, or even eating only plants, but decades of research has stated that the foods we need to eat every day are fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds. We can eat other foods of course, but the best performance comes from a balanced diet designed specifically for each athletes preferences and training needs.
